Etobicoke
Etobicoke was actually once a city all on its own, but as Toronto continued to grow
and expand, this area too also became included as part of the city of Toronto. After
revitalization projects, this area in Toronto’s west end is quickly becoming one
of Toronto’s most popular places to live. Etobicoke is actually divided into three
different neighbours, mostly with political distinctions; and each area as well as its
residents, are extremely diverse.
High Park
The Beach and Danforth Village aren’t the only places where you’ll find luxury living
in Toronto – High Park is also full of luxury options. High Park is the largest park
within the city, and is both child and pet-friendly. It has a vast array of different
boutiques, cafes, shops, and restaurants that are extremely eclectic, offering
choices of all kinds. This area is a bit pricey, with the average detached home
selling for about $800,000. But the close amenities, modern homes, and major
transportation systems (QEW, Danforth subway, Dundas West)that make it easy
to get around make this the prime choice for upper middle-class families looking to
live in the GTA.
Islington Village
‘Village’ is right – but this is a modern one! Islington Village is a newer area
of Etobicoke that has recently seen a lot of residential development. Freehold
townhomes, luxury condominiums, and custom-made homes are rampant in
Islington Village, and older homes on sprawling lots can also be found. The average
price for any of these homes in Islington Village sits at around approximately
$390,000.
Mimico
Mimico is full of detached homes and traditional bungalows, and it’s also one of
the most affordable places to live in Toronto! With the average price of a home at
approximately $360,000, residents here get the feeling of old European charm as
they walk around the bustling streets full of European bakeries and delicatessens.
This cultural flair also makes Mimico one of the most diverse and multicultural areas
of the city; and with lots of parks, schools, and daycare centres, this area is also
very family-friendly.
